Any members in North Florida?

My 85 died, so I replaced the following:

Many times when people post lists of replaced parts, it’s because a proper diagnosis never took place.

Please tell me you weren’t throwing parts at the problem...?

I have ohm’ed every sensor, verified fuel pressure, no PCM codes, verified injector pulse with noid lights, new grounds to the battery, and a new distributor which includes the pickup coil and injector module.

But what are the symptoms? Does it crank? Does it start? Does it stall?

I don’t want to give you the impression that I’m some kind of Corvette expert, but I’d love to help move the conversation forward. However, we need more information than “it died”.

It cranks, runs for one second and dies. I just did a leakdown test on the fuel rail, and I think I have a bad injector. It goes from 50 psi to 0 in 12 seconds.

Does anyone know how long pressure is supposed to remain in the rail after shutdown?

I’ve heard that some newer vehicles bleed off fuel pressure after shut-down, but I don’t think that’s supposed to happen in your case. (Maybe you should check with a Corvette forum before taking my word for it, though.)

At any rate, I do think you’re on the right track...

The corvette guys said I should be above 40 psi for at least a half hour... :(

Bummer. Injectors aren’t exactly cheap. Any chance they’re worth cleaning? Maybe a chunk of debris holding one open?

These look like the original injectors, they are an ancient and unreliable Bosch, but a new set looks to be under $100

$100 for a full set? I hope they’re not bargain-barrel cheap crap. That’s a steal!

Just Bosch replacements, GM has only used 3 styles in the past 40 years
